The forests of Kaimur hills are predominately inhabited by Kharwars, Oraon, and Chero tribes who pose the best example of how to live a sustainable living in the vicinity of forests.
Rohtas has an old & interesting history. In pre-historic days the plateau region of the district has been the abode of aboriginals whose chief representatives now are the Kharwars, the Cheers and the Oraons.
The area is known for its unique topographical diversity, as it is daunted by several high hills and deep valleys, which make it quite secure and everlasting from bio-diversity point of view.
